All About Youth in Construction

The foundation of our global economy

Youth in Construction is an initiative by the SA Forum of Civil Engineering Contractors (SAFCEC), the SA Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE), the Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA), the Gauteng Master Builders Association (GMBA) and FET Colleges in support of the National Construction Week of the Department of Public Works to give young people the opportunity to experience a wide range of exciting opportunities in construction.

Initiated by industry, the Youth in Construction programme will give learners the opportunity to get hands-on with many careers in the construction industry, from labourer to engineer. Various companies have learnerships, scholarships and bursaries to offer. At these events, various role players in the industry will hold exhibitions, talks and hands-on activities that will enable learners to see, touch, feel and appreciate the broad spectrum of exciting possibilities offered within the industry.

Schools are invited to come and learn more about the multitude of career opportunities in this critical industry and the bursaries offered by the major corporations. Discover the skills and courses you need to succeed.

The events promises to be an exciting opportunity to expose all Teachers, Grade 9 – 12 learners and FET college students to the variety of careers in the Construction Industry.
